As humans we all make mistakes. Sometimes we make the ones that cause harm not only to ourselves, but to others. God's word decalres in Romans 3:2, that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Is sexual imorrality a sin? The answer is yes. Does God forgive mankind of their sins? Again, the answer is yes. When we've commit a sin God doesn't start thinking of ways to destroy us. No, he does the exact opposite. He yearns for you to turn from your sin and draw closer to him. He will forgive you of your sin of fornication and lust, just ask and it's done.
Many times we feel ashamed and begin to condemn our own selves for the sins that we commit, but God is not holding a magnifying glass to your life hoping you will melt from the rays of the sun! God wants us to live a life of conviction. What is conviction? Conviction is simply knowing that what you did was wrong. When you are convicted you are presuaded to make amends for the act that you've done and turn towards repentance by asking God for his forgiveness and then turning away from that very act that was wrong. Once God forgives you, he doesn't hold anything over you head. God is a loving and gracious God.
On another note, just because we know that God is gracious and forgiving, doesn't me that we go back to doing what it was that we know was wrong in the first place. That's actually taking advantage of God's grace. His grace is there when we need it & believe me, we ALL need his grace, but we are also held accountable for the deeds that we do in our bodies. This is the same thing that Apostle Paul conveyed to the church of Corinth:
1 Corinthians 6:15-20King James Version (KJV)
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Our bodies are vessels for God's presence to dwell. When we invite sin to dwell in us, we are essentialy telling God that we want someone else to live there instead. Could you imgaine giving God an eviction notice? Here are some pratical steps to staying on your journey to purity:
Acknowledge that you need God's help with your everyday lifestyle. -- God just wants our transparency.
Develop a prayer life. --You don't have to use any special words. Prayer is a genuine conservation with God from your heart.
Get Accountability.-- Seek godly counsel from a youth pastor, deacon, minister or someone who you can trust.
Do something positive. --A lot of times we can get ourselves in a web of distractions, simply from being bored. Join a youth group or better yet create one that will help develop yourself and others to have a positive mindset and do fun activities such as bowling or rock climbing with. Being pure does not have to be boring!!!
Sometimes it's a matter of how you see yourself. Perspective is everything. You can choose to allow wrong actions to rule over you, or you can use self-control and overcome the battle of self-destruction. Always remember that God's love will never grow cold regarding you. His love is from everlasting to everlasting.
Keep moving forward,
Lady Terran Jordan
